Paula Ripple of Kansas Humanities Council’s special Pulitzer group of trained instructors will be presenting a writing workshop in Pioneer Memorial Library in Colby. The workshop will be open to the public free of charge on September 9 at 2:00 p.m. Title of the workshop is “Freedom of Speech in Writing.”
Anyone interested in writing of any type is invited to attend. It is requested that all participants bring paper and pens as they will be continually writing during the workshop. No electronics please.
Ripple received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1972 from Kansas State University, her Teacher Certification for English in 1991 from St Mary of the Plains College, and a Master’s of Arts in English Degree from Fort Hays Kansas State University in 1996.
She has attended summer Institutes at: Stanford University; Quincy, Massachusetts; Albuquerque, New Mexico, and four single day seminars at the University of Kansas and Wichita State University. She has also won numerous scholastic awards.
She taught English at Dodge City High School from 1991 to 2009 and was Adjunct Instructor in English Composition 1 and 2 at Dodge City Community College from 1996 to 2014.
Ripple is a member of the Kansas Association of Teachers of English of which she served as treasurer from 1997 to 2005 and remains a Board Member. She says, “In retirement I continue to explore writing and innovative techniques employed by contemporary writers.” Ripple was selected for this workshop from the list of Pulitzer Group instructors by the officers of District 7 of Kansas Author’s Club.
